Erin Barlow, Assistant Director, Major Investigations, Victorian Ombudsman's Office Erin Barlow has worked at the Victorian Ombudsman’s office for over seven years and is currently an Assistant Director in the Major Investigations unit. In this role, she manages a team conducting formal investigations into complaints about administrative actions taken by government agencies and improper conduct by public officers. Erin has been involved in or led a number of complex Ombudsman investigations that have culminated in public reports, including investigations into Brimbank City Council; Member of Parliament Geoff Shaw MP; CenITex (the State’s IT service provider); and the management of unenforced warrants. In 2011, Erin led a team of five in the Ombudsman’s investigation into ICT‐enabled projects. This investigation identified significant shortcomings in the Victorian public sector’s management of such projects and made 42 recommendations to address these issues. In 2011, Erin was seconded to the Legal Services Commissioner for three months to assist the office with its complaint handling processes; and in 2013, she worked with the Victorian Auditor-General’s Office on a complex performance audit. Erin has a Bachelor of Criminal Justice and tertiary qualifications in communications and government investigations. She is also currently studying Law.
