Michael Cornelius has been Director of the Major Procurement Program Office at the Department of Justice since 2008. In that role, he leads a team of approximately 100 staff who manage high-risk, high-value ICT, procurement and organisational-change projects on behalf of other business units and statutory entities within the department.
Michael has held several other leadership roles in large- to medium-sized organisations, both in Australia and overseas. He has led multinational project groups, run large technology and business change initiatives, and managed diverse portfolios, while consistently delivering on time and on budget.
Between March 2005 and January 2008, Michael was Senior Delivery Manager for ANZ, where he led a strategic reorganisation of the Technology Services Group, and was responsible for 70 technology project specialists. Between 1996 and 2004, he worked for AXA, including over three years in New York as part of the Architecture and Innovation Group, managing the IS Development Strategy/Planning team developing global standards and strategies.
Michael has also held leadership roles at National Mutual Funds Management, Mutual Community Health Insurance and the State Bank of South Australia. He holds a Master of Information Systems, ITC Management from Swinburne University of Technology.
